In essence ignorance is a lack of understanding mainly due to the incident-isolation trap that we regularly set-up for ourselves; and then when we fall into it, we are hugely surprised by the "unexpected unfairness" of people and life in general. Ignorance mainly develops and steadily grows ever so strong, because of the many assumption that we make each and everyday.

We assume that to achieve our dreams is natural, automatic and that it will take care of itself as time goes by; after all, we are doing it since the day that we were born. We assume that we will reach our optimum level of self-actualization, if we are patient enough, give it some time and wait for the ultimate opportunity to miraculously appear. We also assume that we can rely on people (ourselves included) to go ahead and empower themselves, through the gaining of experiences, learning from mistakes made, successes achieved and use digested feedback as a barometer for our achievements... quite a ridiculous assumption, when we do not even have a mission statement, vision statement, value statement, legacy statement and/or minimum standards to begin with. We also, arguably, assume that we know things, understand the dynamics of various situations and know how to deal with problems in the proper context... without guidance, making an effort or being facilitated to do so.

This is our main ignorance of the truth - dreams, visions, missions, values, legacy, minimum acceptable standards and efficiently dealing with change doesn't just happen - because we have some skills, academic training, attend a workshops or visit a psychologist or two. We need to be guided, assisted and focussed in life far more than we tend to think or are really prepared to acknowledge. We need to identify purpose and meaning for ourselves and then actually ACT on it, because when we assume (incidentally the mother of all problems) that things will just happen and "turn out right" in our lives, we fail to take the appropriate actions - SMART-ly - when only a small effort, tweak or adjustment could make a huge difference. For example: something as small and seemingly insignificant as following the direction of our dreams and passions in life.

Key Ignorance is a growing steadily stronger each day due to the many assumptions we make and our mental laziness or "refusal" to interpret situations, events, circumstances and incidents for what they really are.
